Ohio Police Avoid Liability

In 1985 the Ohio General Assembly adopted an immunity law that stated police officers would have "full immunity when they are responding to dangerous, urgent or emergency calls, even when an officer is negligent." Since that time, the Columbus police department has avoided liability in cases in which it is questionable that the officers were on "urgent or emergency" calls.
